Ir Dr. Julian Lee

Ir Dr. Julian Lee is currently Principal of Cinnotek International Group (New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore). He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Member of Institute of Civil Engineer (MICE), UK, and Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (MHKIE). Previously, he served as an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. His former positions include Principal Civil Engineer at Genesis Energy Ltd, New Zealand; Senior Manager of Research and Development of the Construction Industry Council (CIC), Hong Kong; and Deputy Chief Structural Engineer at the Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since 1998, he has been managing various infrastructure and building projects in the Asia Pacific region, as well as various construction research projects. These projects include elements of structural steel, construction technology, sustainability for green building development, construction health and safety, BIM, construction materials and productivity.

Prof. Thomas Bock

Thomas Bock is a Professor of Building Realization and Robotics at Technische Universität München (TUM). He studied Architecture at Stuttgart University in Germany, Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in the United States as a Fulbright Scholar, and Construction Automation and Robotics at the University of Tokyo in Japan. He spent ten years abroad, mostly in the European Union, the United States, and Japan. He holds a US Federal Aviation Administration commercial pilot license with IFR and MEL ratings. Professionally he worked in the prefabrication industry for precast concrete elements in Germany and Iran and designed and built in Germany, Spain, and Costa Rica. Academically, he has focused for 35 years on automation and robotics in building construction, from the planning, prefabrication, on-site production, and utilization phases to the reorganization and deconstruction of a building. He was involved in the development of more than fifty robotic systems for stationary production of modules made in concrete-masonry-timber-steel, on-site robotic systems, automated construction and deconstruction sites and mechatronic building subsystems for daily life/work support. He is a member of the board of directors of several international associations and is also a member of several international academies in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He has consulted for international ministries and evaluates research projects for various international funding institutions. He holds honorary doctorate and professorship degrees and visiting professorships. Bock serves on several editorial boards, heads various working commissions and groups of international research organizations, and is the author or co-author of 400 articles and the recent five-volume Cambridge Handbooks on Construction Robotics series from Cambridge University Press.

Dr. Christopher To

Dr. Christopher To is an Adjunct Professor of Law at City University of Hong Kong. He obtained a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Manufacturing Systems with Electronics from Glasgow Caledonian University and a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Law from City University of Hong Kong. He also holds a Master Degree in Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution from City University of Hong Kong and a Masters Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Northumbria as well as a Doctor of Philosophy from Stirling University and an Honorary Doctor of Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University.
 

In January 2007, Christopher was awarded the Young Global Leader 2007 status by the World Economic Forum to recognize the most distinguished 250 young leaders below the age of 40 from around the world.

Dr. Calvin Kam

Dr. Calvin Kam, AIA, PE, LEED AP, is the Founder and CEO of Strategic Building Innovation - bimSCORE—the "GPS Navigator" for any enterprise or project team charting a course for construction innovation. Dr. Kam is the Director of Industry Programs and an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE), where he specializes in strategic innovation such as Management Scorecards, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Sustainable Developments. Since 2003, Calvin has been a Co-founder and currently the Senior Program Expert of the National 3D-4D-BIM Program with GSA Public Buildings Service. Since 2011, the Singapore government’s Building Construction Authority has appointed Calvin as an international expert to advise its construction productivity and BIM roadmap; Since 2012, China National BIM Standards and National BIM Union have appointed Calvin as the only international Honorary Director. Calvin is also a Principal Investigator with Disney Research China. Elected by the Knowledge Leadership Assembly of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Calvin serves on the 2013-15 AIA Board Knowledge Committee as well as the International Practice Committee with AIA National. Calvin was the 2011-2014 National Co-Chair of AIA Center for Integrated Practice, and the 2010 & 2011 National Chair of AIA Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Knowledge Community. Dr. Kam was a recipient of various AIA, ASCE, SOM, Stanford University Fellowships as well as Engineering News Record’s “20 under 40” awards, and the inaugural Junior Alumni Award from USC Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering among other honors and awards. Calvin is a registered Architect in the State of California, a Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia, and a LEED Accredited Professional. 

Ir Dr. Albert T. Yeung

Ir Dr. Albert T. Yeung received his Bsc(Eng) from the University of Hong Kong with first class honors, and his MS and PhD from University of Berkeley, USA. He taught at Northeastern University in Boston and Texas A&M University of College Station for more than 7 years. After his return to Hong Kong, he was Chief Engineer of Binnie Black & Veatch Hong Kong Limited and Assistant Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the HKSAR Government before his return to academia in 2003.
 

His notable awards include IPA Research Grant Award of the International Press-in Association 2008; 1st Prize of Civil Engineering Papers of the Year Award 2008, Peter H.K. Chan Award 2001, and Kumagai Price 1994 of HKIE; Samuel Arnold Greeley Award 1999 and Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award 1996 of ASCE, Dow Outstanding New Faculty Award 1994 of the American Society for Engineering Education, Texas Engineering Experiment Station Select Young Faculty Award 1993.

Er S.T. Poh

Er. POH Seng Tiok is the Director, Planning and Design, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Corp, Malaysia, implementing the MRT projects in Kuala Lumpur. Er. Poh has more than 20 years’ experience in large scale mass transit, railway design and construction projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and other parts of Asia. He manages the MRTC design group comprising disciplines such as Architectural, Civil & Structural, Alignment, Geotechnical & Tunnels, Interface Coordination, BIM/GIS, Programme & Planning, Development Building Control and Transport Planning. He is also a member of MRT Corporation BIM Steering Committee, which monitors and oversees the BIM implementation strategy for MRT projects delivered by the Corporation. Recently, Er. Poh lead his team to win an international BIM awards for MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line engineering design.  
 

Er. POH Seng Tiok is Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Asean Chartered Professional Engineer and also registered with the Professional Engineer Board, Singapore since 2004.

Mr. Harry Chan

Harry Chan is the founder and CEO of Beelventor, Hong Kong. He founded BeeInventor two years ago to focus on developing IoT products for construction.
 

Qualified in engineering and finance, Harry has over 20 years of experience across the whole spectrum of developmental stages of capital projects. He specialises in construction technologies, commercial and procurement advisory (specialise in NEC target cost contracts), financial and investment analysis, project control and risk management in infrastructure, resources and renewable projects. He has been involved in a wide range of projects including: passenger and freight rail, power station, wind farm, roads, water treatment works, waste management facilities, sport stadium, commercial building, age care facility and hospitals with an aggregate value up to HK$60b. His in-depth understanding of the technical, financial and commercial risks inherent in capital projects is central to his approach.

Mr Ioannis Prionas

Mr Ioannis Prionas is currently the Director of Structural Engineering of Blue Barn Consulting Ltd, New Zealand. Previously he was a Principal and Structural Engineering Team Leader at Harrison Grierson, New Zealand.

Ioannis has a scientific background and over 17 years’ experience designing, managing and controlling the structural engineering aspects of a wide range of complex, high-value civil engineering and construction projects - including three Olympic Stadiums in Athens. He’s also an expert in seismic isolation of bridges and structures, seismic retrofitting and structural dynamics. His qualifications include an MSc Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures - National Technical University of Athens, Greece (2001) and a Diploma of Civil Engineering - National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He also has a BA (Civil) Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus, Greece.  He is a member of IPENZ, SESOC, NZSEE, and a member of EUR ING - European Federation of National Engineering Associations (2011).

Ir Dr. Ryan Yan

Dr Ryan Yan is Senior Lecturer at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Yan obtained his degrees (BEng, MPhil, and PhD) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Prior to joining the department, he had been an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (2009-2015) and the University of Macau (2005-2009), a visiting scholar at the Technical University of Hamburg (2005), and a postdoctoral fellow at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2003-2005).
 

His current research interests include constitutive and numerical modelling of geomaterials, grain-scale micromechanics, geotechnical process monitoring, application of Bayesian analysis to geotechnical engineering, and soil-plant interactions.
